After seeing some of the fantastic minis Ebob has on display on the online store, I came across setting up a PayPal account and waiting for it to clear before I can buy some Then a thought struck me, how do I paint these awesome minis? Then I came across the idea of a user submitted Article system, showing how we can paint each model, build the Stalag board in real miniature form (i.e not Paper Terrain) and maybe even some conversion articles? I remember Ebob saying about not having a SBO figure at the moment, maybe some sort of conversion with another POW or a Pengiun would give you a nice SBO? Its just an idea anyway, and I am sure if enough people think about it, its a genuine asset to the Stalag Community. Once I have some minis and a Decent Digital Camera I could gladly give Ebob some painting articles, maybe some Conversions too if i can get the money in time As for terrain, I am not a Terrain Building sort of gamer, so I will leave that to someone else Hope this idea is useful to Ebob and the rest of you guys

I think this is an excellent idea. Why not indeed.
I'm not sure how to implement this - but I understand what you mean. A user gallery would also be nice to see.
Something I'm having a great deal of trouble with is trees. The camp should be surrounded by a thick pine forest. I want to run a line of trees along the back of the baord. But I want the trees to be realistic - not 4 inch high bottle Xmas trees.
I want spindly looking trees at least 12" or taller. I want them to look as realistic as possible - but - I need to make lots of them.
I'm also working on modelling the tunnel! I've got one building cut in half off the edge of the board and I've run some mdf along the edge of the board so I can model the tunnel going down and along under the camp!

Indeed, it is a bit dodgy to implement, but I am sure there is some way to do it, maybe on the Miniatures page of the Stalag Site? Or an Articles page on the Stalag site. As for the Trees, the only thing I can suggest is take a long walk around your Hobby store Games workshop trees look the part, but for £12 for 6......its gonna cost you a bomb to have a complete border As for the tunnel....thats an ace idea, I am not sure how you are trying to do it though the only thing I can think of is have a seperate board piece for the Tunnel, that you can move Models in and out and along etc. Let me know how you get on with the idea though ;D

Bought trees are too short and look like Xmas trees. Real pine trees dont look anything like Xmas trees.

Nope - I'm on the case - I'm determined that trees can be made cheaply and easily - just need to get the right materials.

I will now explain how the tunnel was made(although it does no intercept with the main board)
First of all i again used 1" thick mdf although i feel it may be better with 1/2" sheets. So i cut 3 lengths of Mdf about 6ft long, then i screwed all 3 lenths together to make your basic tunnel.(with one side open so you can see inside)
Then (i tryed to use sand for this but it dosent have the same effect.)i used soil from my back garden not compost because the normal soil has a better texture. and placed it all around the sides one at a time then when one side was coverd i smotherd it with Pva glue to make it stay.
Once this was done with all the sides i then started to shore the tunnel. I done this by using the kindiling sticks you use for fires and cut them down to size and thickness and placed them glued in the roof of the tunnel(dont do this all the way only sections of it) and the side, not the floor though.
When this was finished i then glued matchsticks with the head of them cut off all together in a line to make the rails.
And finally to finish off your tunnel for the moment place a thin pice of copper tubing painted silver and place it poking out of the bottom at the end of the tunnel to look like the air pump pipe.
Im still making the air pump along with the entrance and exit tunnel shafts. This should all be finished by the end of the week
